The Gridder..
is a rolling dibbler used to lay out or "dibble" your plantings. It is also used to make straight lines before direct seeding or using a paperpot transplanter.
Even and straight plantings are more productive and easier to cultivate.
The gridder creates perfect, evenly spaced plantings on a 30" bed. Not recommended for beds which are not 30"
A spool is related to the number or rows you intend to plant on the bed. Thus when you wish to plant two rows, you would use a 2x2 spool.
Spacing - You need only divide the bed by the number of rows. The calculation is 30”/2 rows = 15” . Thus a 2x2 spool spaces plantings 15” apart in the bed and in-row which is the correct and only even spacing for 2 rows on a 30” bed. Obviously in-row spacing and row spacing are identical for even plantings.
If that is unclear, then the "Plant Spacing" video below should help to clarify.
Created by Conor Crickmore for easy, quick, and perfectly straight plantings every time. This ensures even growth and fast cultivation.
Efficient
Conor decided on static spools because it just made the most sense.
Accurate - It is only possible to get both precise row and in-row spacing with permanent spools.
Speed - To move between different spacings, no tools are required; just grab and go.
Efficient - It is dumb simple to relate a planting task to workers.
Simple - There is no need for any other spacing on a 30" bed than the spools created by Conor.
Adjustable Dibblers are Inefficient because
* They are always inaccurate
* Usually Require Tools and more importantly, Time to Change
* Difficult, if not impossible, to transfer planting directions to workers
lanolin oil
We use the highest quality and function appropriate materials which sometimes require minimal maintenance. Keep steel tools dry and oiled between each use to prevent rust.
